Kirsty is a native of the town of Grimsby and first started singing in the renowned Grimsby Folk Club. She has performed at local festivals and events, been a guest performer at the Cullerlie Traditional Singing Weekend and has appeared at the UK’s foremost traditional festival, Whitby Folk Week.

Known for her ‘clear’ and ‘haunting’ voice, Kirsty is first and foremost an unaccompanied singer. For On the Humber Banks, she is pleased to have had the opportunity to work with studio owner Darryl Ebbatson and local musicians Bob Cuthbertson and Jerry Oakes, who have helped bring her ideas to life. Her most recent EP Three Ships, again working with Bob and Darryl was released in June 2026 and is available on Bandcamp

Kirsty’s debut EP, On the Humber Banks. Available on Bandcamp.

In 2025 Kirsty, Bob and Darryl began work on her latest EP inspired by the tragic stories of North Sea fishermen in 1968 when 58 men lost their lives on three trawlers out of Hull,  the St Romanus, Kingston Peridot, and Ross Cleveland, went down within a month of each other.

Although these songs are rooted across the river in Hull, it’s a shared past, both Hull and Grimsby lost too many men to the ‘most dangerous job on earth’ in the name of profit.

The EP was completed in June 2026 and released the same month on Bandcamp.

Kirsty is now playing locally with Darryl Ebbatson on guitar. They have performed at the Day of Lincolnshire Folk in Leadenham and FolkLincs in Barton Upon Humber.
